Como antesala al primer partido de la semifinal de la Copa BetPlay 2023, que enfrentará a Millonarios contra Cúcuta en el Campín, y en el que el equipo embajador busca avanzar a la final y revalidar su título obtenido en el 2022, vale la pena recordar la historia y el escudo del equipo bogotano.
Y pesar de ser uno de los equipos con más historia del fútbol colombiano y latinoamericano, pocos conocen realmente el significado de su escudo.
Empecemos entonces por el origen… En 1938, el equipo se llamaba Club Municipal de Deportes y adoptó el escudo de la ciudad de Bogotá, que era un ave con los colores oficiales del equipo: blanco y negro.
El escudo cambió en 1939, cuando se fundó el Club Deportivo Los Millonarios, y se usaron los colores azul y blanco, inspirados en el equipo argentino “Tigre”, del cual era hincha Fernando Paternóster, entrenador de la época.
Sin embargo, aún no se conoce que significan los aros en la parte superior derecha del escudo
Existen varias teorías, la primera, fruto de la edición de un diseñador inspirado en las letras CD (Club Deportivo) para su creación, pero esta teoría es la más débil, ya que el escudo de entonces tenía las siglas CM (Club Municipal).
La segunda teoría está inspirada en una representación de la unión entre los equipos Club Deportivo Municipal, Unión Juventud y Juventud Bogotana, algo que tiene mucho más sentido, pero que sigue sin ser una certeza.
La tercera dice que los aros conmemoran a los Juegos olímpicos, específicamente a los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe de ese momento, en los cuales el Club Deportivo Municipal fue el representante colombiano. En esa misma época, se cambiaron los colores y escudo del equipo, además se inauguró el estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín…
La cuarta teoría explica que los dos aros del escudo son la unión del Colegio San Bartolomé de la Merced y la Universidad de La Salle (Bogotá).
En 2011 el equipo cambiaría su nombre a «Millonarios Fútbol Club», con esto, también se modificaría el escudo del equipo, pues se agregó un borde dorado que representa la época de El Dorado del Fútbol Colombiano.
Hoy en día el escudo del equipo embajador luce así
Como ven, hay muchas teorías, pero pocas certezas… Lo único realmente cierto es que Millonarios y la hinchada albiazul siguen escribiendo una historia para celebrar, una historia que siempre quiere dar un paso más allá…
